Soccer fans will get to see Messi in the flesh on Sunday in Frisco

Lionel Messi's Leagues Cup journey will run through Texas — and tickets are available to see the magician in action.

By virtue of FC Dallas and Inter Miami CF winning their Round of 32 Leagues Cup matches on Wednesday night, the Herons will travel for the first time in their Leagues Cup run, against an FCD team that is yet to leave the friendly confines. While the time is to be determined for the Sunday, August 6 showdown, the club announced that tickets will go on sale starting at 11 a.m. on the FCDallasTickets.com website.

Messi's taken well to life in MLS, scoring a pair of goals on Wednesday to lead Miami to a 3-1 win over in-state rivals Orlando City, and raising his total Leagues Cup tally to five goals and two assists — or, a goal contribution every 29 minutes.

FC Dallas, meanwhile, got a penalty kick goal from Alan Velasco and a Eugene Ansah goal from open play to power the hosts to a 2-1 win over surprise group winners Mazatlán FC.

The winner, of course, moves on to the quarterfinals of the two-league tournament.

Update, Aug. 3, 11:45 a.m.: The remaining tickets, which started at $299, have sold out.

The FC Dallas social media team advises going to the AXS online resale marketplace to find tickets for Sunday's match.
