Lionel Messi's Argentina is among seven teams looking to avoid a group stage exit as Group C and D have yet to be decided. Only France has booked a spot in the next round from this bunch, but the defending champions will be looking to secure the top of the group, so they'll have something to play for as well.
Everything is up for grabs in Group C as all four sides control their destiny. Mexico has the toughest task as they will likely need a win by a comfortable margin to assure an eighth straight trip to the Round of 16.
Tunisia has the toughest road in Group D, needing a win against France, but also needing Denmark to draw and lose. Sit back and enjoy — especially if you're a U.S. fan knowing your team has moved on — potentially the best day of group stage finales.

Narratives we’ll be watching for
Will the likes of Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski say goodbye to Qatar 2022? One of these two is likely on their way out of the tournament but both sides control their fate.
In the case of Argentina, not advancing would go down as a big upset for a pre-tournament favorite to go all the way. La Albiceleste responded to a shock loss to Saudi Arabia in its opening match by scoring a pair of great goals in the 2-0 win over Mexico. Lionel Messi may need to deliver another inspired performance to lead his way to the knockout phase.
Mexico head coach Gerardo Martino, meanwhile, is undergoing heavy scrutiny after El Tri lost to the manager's birth country. The manner of the defeat against Argentina was a talking point when it came to the defensive formation, the playing of its oldest players in midfield in Guardado and Herrera, the absence of top player Edson Alvarez and the lack of a number nine. The Mexicans were struggling to score coming into the tournament and are in danger of being eliminated without having scored a goal.
Saudi Arabia was the talk of the first round of group matches with head coach Hervé Renard's halftime speech against Argentina going viral on social media. There are reports of the players earning a Rolls Royce for their performance but a loss to Poland has set up a probable elimination. Can the Green Falcons put together another big victory?
France still has to secure the top spot in Group D and anything less would be a bit of a surprise. Denmark and Australia will be looked at as the decider for the second spot but the games still need to be played, with Tunisia also alive.
What happened in the previous day's action
Group A was wrapped up with the Netherlands taking the top spot after a 2-0 victory over Qatar. The result concludes a three-match losing streak for the hosts in what goes down as the worst run by a country playing the tournament at home.
As expected, Ecuador vs. Senegal was the deciding match for the second team to come out of the group. The match was decided by the minimal difference with a penalty call around the 44th minute making for a harsh elimination for Ecuador, who would have advanced with the draw.
And just like that, the #Qatar2022 action in Group A and Group B is over

The knockout stages are calling 🤩
England and the United States are the two countries to emerge in first and second, respectively with wins in Group B. England took a comfortable 3-0 win over neighbor country Wales while the USA outlasted Iran in a 1-0 result.

Tuesday's results make for a Netherlands encounter with the U.S. men's national team on Saturday while England and Senegal will face off on Sunday.
