The LA Galaxy have begun making moves during the two-day trade window as forward Cameron Dunbar was traded to Minnesota United in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. The Galaxy can receive $75,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) if Dunbar meets performance-based incentives. LA will also receive 20% of the transfer fee if the 20-year-old is sold outside Major League Soccer.
Dunbar represented the LA Galaxy Academy at various age groups, including the U-18/19 and U-16/17 levels before signing a homegrown contract in February 2020. He made his MLS debut as a 17-year-old under Guillermo Barros Schelotto during the 2020 MLS is Back tournament in Orlando in a start against the Portland Timbers.
He’s made a total of 18 appearances in MLS across three seasons with the club (2020-23). His last appearance for the LA Galaxy came in 2021 during an 11-minute cameo off the bench during a 1-0 away win over Minnesota United.
As a Carson native, Dunbar became a fan favorite although not being a regular starter for the first team. One of his most impactful moments for the LA Galaxy occurred during a match at home against LAFC. Dunbar would pressure LAFC center back Jesus Murillo into a poor giveaway that led to the game-winning goal that would be scored by Jonathan Dos Santos.
Dunbar also made 48 appearances with 15 goals and six assists for LA Galaxy II in USL Championship regular-season play.
