The Houston Dash announced on Thursday morning that it will host their first-ever international friendly at BBVA Stadium, welcoming Tigres UANL from Liga MX Femenil in Mexico.
Kickoff for the match is set for 6 p.m. CDT on Sunday, September 19th.

“We have a fantastic relationship with Tigres and this really brings everything full circle," Houston Dynamo and Dash president John Walker said about the announcement.
"We learned so much from our first visit to Monterrey in 2019 and that was really a catalyst for a deeper connection between our two teams. We look forward to a great match at BBVA Stadium in September and offering our fans a world-class exhibition between our two clubs.”
While the friendly will break new ground for Texas women's soccer at BBVA Stadium, it will be the second meeting between the two teams. Tigres hosted Houston at Estadio Universitario in Monterrey, Mexico on October 5, 2019. That night, the Liga MX Femenil side narrowly edged out the Dash with a late penalty kick, giving them a 2-1 victory.
“We are absolutely thrilled to host Tigres at BBVA Stadium," said Dash head coach James Clarkson. "We had such a fantastic experience in 2019 and look to offer them the same outstanding hospitality they gave us."
"On the field, they are the top team in their league and this is another fantastic opportunity to showcase the Dash on the international stage.”
Tigres are the reigning Liga MX Femenil champion and have won the title four times since 2018. Tigres also reached the final in six consecutive tournaments, the most in Liga MX Femenil history.
The club is led by Liliana Mercado, who has earned 107 appearances for the four-time Liga MX Femenil champions. Many Houston fans will be eagerly anticipating the return of former Dash forward Maria Sanchez.
Sanchez joined the Dash for a short-term loan earlier this summer and scored in her Dash debut at BBVA Stadium against the Orlando Pride. The forward appeared in three games for Houston prior to reporting for international duty with the Mexican Women’s National Team in July 2021.
Houston Dash and Houston Dynamo FC season ticket members will have an exclusive window to secure their seats beginning today before tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, August 30 at HoustonDash.com.
September’s friendly will be the second international exhibition for Clarkson and the Dash this year. Houston represented the NWSL at the Women’s International Champions Cup in Portland last week.
