Three Houston Dynamo FC players could be reporting to national team duty in early June to participate in the 2021 Concacaf Nations League Finals from June 3-6 in Denver, Colorado.
Provisional rosters for all four participating nations were released by the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) on Monday.
Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico and the United States advanced to the finals of the tournament by qualifying as group winners of League A in the 2019–20 CONCACAF Nations League A. The semifinals and final were originally scheduled to take place in Texas in 2020, in Houston and Arlington respectively, before being postponed due to COVID-19 and rescheduled this year at Denver's Empower Field at Mile High.
Defender Maynor Figueroa and midfielder Oscar Boniek Garcia have been listed on the provisional roster for the Honduras men's national team while forward Ariel Lassiter has been listed on Costa Rica's provisional squad. Figueroa and Lassiter represented their nations earlier this year during preseason.
Figueroa is the captain of Honduras and has represented his country more than anyone else with over 160 senior appearances. The 38-year-old central defender continues to be considered a key leader for Uruguayan manager Fabian Coito.
Boniek Garcia is another veteran presence for Los Catrachos as the Dynamo FC team captain counts with well over 100 appearances of his own. Garcia was set to return to the national team last year before international friendlies were cancelled due to COVID-19.
Ariel Lassiter is looking to make his third appearance with Costa Rica's senior squad this year after playing in friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mexico in late March. The Dynamo FC forward was acquired on a full transfer this past offseason after impressing the team on a loan during the 2020 season.
